The Pittsburgh Tri-Shields Chapter of the Buick Club of America was originally chartered in 1987 as the National Pike Chapter. The founders selected the National Pike name because the club had founding members from all points along the National Pike, i.e. U.S. Rt. 40. The National Pike extends from Maryland through Pennsylvania and West Virginia, to Ohio. In 2006 it was decided that, while the Chapter has members from PA and WV, the events and activities of the Chapter are primarily carried out in the Greater Pittsburgh area. Additionally the fact that most people are not familiar with the tri-state area, it was decided to change the Chapter name to a more geographically descriptive name. That's how we became the Pittsburgh Tri-Shields Chapter.
